WELCOME HANK ALAN!!!

He's finally here! Hank Alan, born Monday, Jan. 14th at 5:41 pm, 9 lbs 3 ounces!
after being induced Sunday evening at 7:30pm, and going through painful labor contractions for 23 hours - i didn't make any progress. No dialating, and Hank wouldn't drop. My doctor said i could keep trying to make some progress, but for a first time mom being induced to not have the baby drop by that point wasn't a good sign that he would ever drop. at that point i was glad to hear her say that because i was sooooo frustrated with going through that pain for so long and not have anything happening. so C-section it was, and that was the right decision because his head was so large, preventing him from dropping down. The first thing all the doctors said as he came out was, "That is a big head!". Jesse said when he was in the nursery (Jesse didn't leave his side when he arrived that day), he said Hank looked so much bigger than all the other babies :)
the C-section happened so fast, he was out within about 10 minutes. recovery has been a little hard, as expected. i'm not very mobile, but it gets a little better each day and my stomach is finally not hurting as bad.
Enough about me, Hank is perfect! he' s eating really well, sleeps a lot, keeps us up at night like he should (some nights more than others, like last night) and is the cutest little guy in the world! as things get a little more routine around here and as i become more mobile and feeling better (i get sooo tired quickly) then i'll keep adding photos. Today Hank is 5 days old!
more later -
Shari, Jesse and Hank
