So, without further ado, here is the latest, most precious addition to our family: Duke Jesse!
born July 12th, 2010 at 9lbs 11 oz., and a week early, via c-section. Since it was scheduled, everything went smoothly and easily, and we transitioned home well! Hank loved his little brother right away, wanting to hold and kiss him often. after a few weeks, Hank really tested the boundaries with how gentle he needed to be with Duke, poking him a lot in the belly as he walked by him, hit him on the head a few times with the fly swatter, yes Duke cried. poor little guy - getting beat up by his older brother from the beginning! Hank is absolutely great with my little 4 month old now, doesn't hurt him at all.
more about Duke - first thing i said when Duke arrived was, "it's a little Jesse!". he couldn't look more like his father! spitting image...and that is what everyone who meets him says as well. :)
Duke was a little grunter from the moment he arrived. whenever he was picked up, put down, turned around, he would grunt. so cute. He is different from Hank in so many ways, he's ticklish, and giggled when tickled at only 3-4 weeks of age. hank would squirm a bit when tickled, but now Duke belly laughs. Every time i undress him he laughs when his arms are taken out of his shirt. Duke likes to pat things a lot with his whole arm and hand, so cute. He slept a lot better - longer stretches, sometimes even 7-8 hours at a time, when he was only 4 weeks old.
Here are some of the dozens of pictures we have of Duke through his first 2 months of life:
